The 19th season of hit US talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show will be its last, confirms lesbian TV host, Ellen DeGeneres.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, DeGeneres said: “When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged–and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore.”

It’s just not a challenge anymore? Maybe she could challenge herself to treat her staff well while filming?

In all honesty, the “notoriously mean” host and senior show producers can’t have found it a walk in the park to be accused of bullying, sexual misconduct and racism, nor the year-long PR deep clean that followed.

“I wouldn’t have thought I was ever going to do a talk show when I stopped doing movies and sitcoms,” DeGeneres said. “I thought that that was the only path. And then all of a sudden there was a talk show that took me on this 19-year journey.”

Apparently, the decision had been in the pipeline, though it’s said Ellen dropped the bombshell in a staff meeting on Monday (10 May) and, honestly, we would’ve traded a summer’s worth of dick to be a fly on the wall.

Ellen added: “Look, it’s going to be really hard on the last day, but I also know it’s time.”

So, what’s being canceled here? Ellen? Or her show? Regarding last year’s allegations, Ellen said: “I’m not a scary person. I’m really easy to talk to. So, we’ve all learned from things that we didn’t realise – or I didn’t realise – were happening.”

DeGeneres added: “I just want people to trust and know that I am who I appear to be.”

All good things must come to an end, we guess. That, or some shit shows can never be truly cleaned. Your call.
