Perhaps unsurprisingly, sales of sex dolls have sky-rocketed since the public has been put on social distancing restrictions.

The guidelines, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, encourage mixing only with those you live with (fine, if your flatmate is fit), standing 6-feet apart (bad, unless you’ve got a 6-foot penis) and no social gatherings (terrible, if you’re into group sex).

Manufacturer Sex Doll Genie now claims they’ve sold more dolls in the first three months of 2020 than the entirety of 2019.

“We are seeing the sex doll industry go through a revolution during the COVID-19 pandemic with a huge increase in orders from both couples and male and single females,” company spokesperson Janet Stevenson told GSN

“Couples who have been quarantined together seem to be much more open to trying something new after possibly experimenting more during the lockdown. We are also seeing more single men and women placing orders for the first time. We think this is because they view solo play as a safer alternative to dating apps.”

The dolls sell for over $2000 and the company expects its sales to continue to grow while the coronavirus pandemic continues.
