Taron Egerton, who’ll be playing Elton John in the upcoming biopic Rocketman, has said he feels more at home in a gay bar than at a football match.

Speaking to GQ, Egerton said: “Without ever wishing to seem ungrateful for the Kingsman thing, as much as I love the films, especially the first, I will always feel like something of an imposter in that world.

“The ‘guy’, the ‘bro’, the ‘stunt guy’. I’ve never been that guy. I’m just not.

“I’m the guy who was playing Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors when he was 17. I always felt more at home in a gay club than at a football match, far more at home.”

He’s also been very vocal about the censorship of the gay sex scenes with Richard Madden. According to Queerty, he’s reported to have recently said: “That’s why I made the film. Those scenes are desperately important when you have an icon of that magnitude, who means so much to one community.”

Egerton previously misled some fans into thinking he came out.

This thing is, the gays love this shit. Until we don’t. Egerton’s still in favour, but we know how the gays react to queerbaiting; don’t do it, hun.
